Apostate

Synopsis:

Joram van Klaveren, a former member of the Dutch Parliament and a prominent critic of Islam, wrote a book titled “Apostate: From Christianity to Islam in Times of Secularisation and Terror”. Initially intended as a critique of Islam, the book chronicles his personal and theological journey as he underwent a significant transformation.

As a Christian and a representative of the far-right Party for Freedom, van Klaveren was known for his anti-Islamic views and introduced several bills aimed at restricting Islamic practices in the Netherlands. However, during the writing process, he encountered numerous matters that challenged his understanding of Islam. Through his research and interactions with Muslim scholars, he began to question his previous beliefs and eventually converted to Islam.

In the book, Van Klaveren shares his story of spiritual growth, discussing the topics he struggled with for years and the intellectual and philosophical developments that led him to embrace Islam. The book offers a unique perspective, as a former critic of Islam now shares his experiences and insights as a convert.
