• Sowing seeds of doubt: They may attempt to spread uncertainty and scepticism about Islamic beliefs and principles, aiming to erode faith and confidence in the religion.
• Effacing signposts of Islam: Hypocrites may seek to remove or obscure the guiding principles and practices of Islam, making it difficult for others to follow the correct path.
• Lowering raised flags: They may undermine or silence those who promote and defend Islam, effectively reducing the visibility and impact of Islamic teachings.

Imam Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah emphasises the importance of recognising these characteristics and being vigilant against their insidious influence, in order to protect and preserve the integrity of Islam.
