Al-Imam, Ath-Thiqat al-Kabir. He met several companions and brought the hadith directly from them. He was a reliable reporter. The first scholar to write regarding the Maghazi sciences.

Imam Malik was asked about the Maghazi? He replied: Read the Maghazi of the pious man, Musa ibn Uqbah, for they are the most authentic Maghazi.

Maghazi refer to the military expeditions and is an Arab term to refer to a biography.
